What does AppRegister scan?
AppRegister scans installed applications and displays metadata such as app size, last-used date where available, login item indicators, and Apple Silicon status.
Does AppRegister track me?
No. AppRegister does not include advertising SDKs and does not track users across apps or websites.
Does AppRegister require an account?
No. AppRegister does not require account creation.
Why might app descriptions vary?
App descriptions are dependant on the quality of data built into each app on your system, and available web-based information. AppRegister reports on confidence of results as Low, Medium or High.
How are website links chosen?
AppRegister uses bundle ID lookup first, then app-name matching, and falls back to Safari search for low-confidence matches. Descriptions and website links may be enriched using third-party sources. Website links are confidence-ranked and a certainty rating displayed.
Why is export taking time?
Large app lists and layout rendering can increase export time, especially for PDF output.

Checklist.


Scan shows fewer apps than expected:

  • Confirm apps are installed in standard Applications folders

  • Retry scan after closing and reopening the app

Login item indicator seems incomplete:

  • Ensure macOS permissions are granted when prompted

  • Some login behaviors may be managed by helper tools or launch agents

Export issues:

  • Verify you have write access to the selected save location

  • Try a different folder and run export again

1. Information AppRegister accesses

  • Installed app metadata on your Mac, such as app name, size, bundle metadata, and last-used date where available, to generate scan results

  • Login item information to indicate whether apps may launch at startup

  • User-selected file locations when you export CSV or PDF reports

2. How network access is used

  • AppRegister may send app names, and where available bundle identifiers, to third-party services, including Apple iTunes Search, Wikipedia, and DuckDuckGo, to retrieve optional app descriptions or related website links

  • These requests support the enrichment features shown in-app

3. Data collection and tracking

  • AppRegister does not use advertising SDKs

  • AppRegister does not track users across apps or websites

  • AppRegister does not sell personal data

  • AppRegister does not require account creation

4. Data storage and retention

  • Scan results are generated locally

  • Export files are saved only where you choose

  • AppRegister does not provide a cloud account system for storing your app inventory

5. Permissions

  • Automation permission (Apple Events) may be requested only to support login item detection features

  • File access is used for user-initiated export actions

7. Children’s Privacy

  • AppRegister is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children

  • AppRegister is a local macOS app designed for general audiences and no data is collected or stored

8. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time
